How do I install the Prado Unifit Outlet?

To ensure your design maintains total visual integrity, we provide several versatile installation and wiring pathways for Prado Unifit outlets.

Mounting Styles

The Prado series is engineered to disappear into your finishes. Select the mounting technique that best suits your material and aesthetic goals:

Flush Installation

  • The receptacle is recessed to sit entirely level with the mounting surface.
  • This application is intended for solid materials such as wood, tile, or stone that allow for a routed counterbore. Note: Flush mounting is not compatible with drywall.
  • Expert Advice: For a seamless, professional finish in stone or timber, we suggest utilizing the Docking Drawer Counterbore Bit.

Surface Installation

  • The outlet sits just above the material face.
  • This is the preferred method for drywall surfaces or any installation where precision routing is not an option.

Trim Ring Detail

Enhance the installation with a metallic trim ring, providing a sophisticated border that ensures a clean transition between the outlet and the wall.

Electrical Specifications

We provide versatile wiring configurations based on whether the outlet is intended for permanent building structures or mobile furniture:

Hardwired

The mandatory configuration for fixed construction, including kitchen backsplashes and bathroom walls.

  • Integrated Self-Contained Junction Box Cap: Use the proprietary self-contained cap for a compact installation that removes the need for a junction box.
  • Standard Back Box: Compatible with traditional Romex wiring using a standard electrical box and cover plate.

Corded (Plug-In)

These units are engineered exclusively for furniture like desks, nightstands, or sofas.

  • Constraint: Corded models are never to be installed within a permanent wall or building structure.

Safety Requirements

  • Vertical Mounting Only: To ensure long-term safety, Prado outlets must be mounted on vertical surfaces, such as cabinet sides or backsplashes. Do not install these units facing upward on horizontal countertops.
